Here is a copy of the math news sent home 9-12-12

Family Members,

The D.C. Everest School is concerned about your child’s retention of essential math skills in grades 1-4. A student’s ability to perform at higher levels of mathematics is directly related to their success on the essential math skills.

Each day, children will practice a set of problem that will help them prepare and review for an upcoming bi-weekly assessment.

Proficiency is determined from the average of each grades district scores. These scores are used to determine if a student needs additional instruction to learn the skills

Your child has taken the test attached. Please look these over and take note of your child’s progress thus far. Also, below is a list of the additional skills your child will be assessed on this year.

Please practice math facts with your child using dice, dominoes and cards. Here are videos that demonstrate different ways to practice the math skills.

If you have questions or concerns please let me know.  Thank you for supporting your child’s education!
